Dublin Peanut Festival
North Carolina designated The Dublin Peanut Festival as the official state peanut festival in 2013. Dublin is called the peanut capital of North Carolina.
Held the third Saturday of September of every year since 1993, the festival includes a scholarship pageant, classic car show, games in the gym, entertainment including bands and solo acts on stage, rides, contests, kiddie and women’s pedal tractor pull, craft and food vendors, fireman competition, peanut bake-off contest, cake walk, t-shirt sales, and PEANUTS.
Peanuts are known by many names in Dublin including earth nuts, ground nuts, and goober peas. The peanut is in the legume family and is native to Mexico, Central America, and South America.
