Official State Drink of South Dakota
Milk was designated the official state drink of South Dakota in 1986. South Dakota also recognizes a state bread and a state dessert. All State Foods & Beverages
Twenty states recognize milk as a state symbol, in addition to yogurt (New York state snack), coffee milk (Rhode Island state drink), and ice cream cone (Missouri state dessert).
Milk (lac vaccun) has been called a nearly perfect food - a source of protein, calcium, and several other important nutrients. Less than half of milk produced is consumed as a beverage (excess is used for butter, cheese, ice cream, milk powder, and other processed products).
